Recently someone asked me why I haven’t been writing anything lately. My obvious answer was “well, there’s not a lot going on in politics right now”. Logical right? Look around….everything seems to be going just fine, right?…..I guess if you're a complete moron….or a socialist, then you answered “yes”.
With that said…I will warn you up front that what I am writing will probably offend some people. In fact, I am hoping that it offend some people. Let me go one step father.....what I would really like to see, is that some people would be offended enough that they would wake up and see that we are in trouble as a country.
So why the Conde’ Nast reference…you ask. It’s simple….because we as a nation are headed to hell in a hand basket. I'm not really sure what that means, but it does kind of sound like we are traveling, so I thought that I would make my blog a kind of "travelers guide" to point out places of interest on our journey.
In April of 2008, at a fundraiser for his presidential campaign, Barack Obama said the following in an attempt to explain his difficulty in winning over working-class voters in Pennsylvania and the Mid-West....."And it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations"....Because of what I am going to say, I will probably be called a racist…..In addition to that, I will probably be called a “bitter" white man who is "clinging to (my) guns and (my) religion”…So let me address both of those charges; First of all, I am not a racist…in fact I would say that the people that I count as closest to me, represent as wide of a racial spectrum as a person could have. On the second count….let me make something clear….I am “bitter” (more like pissed off, but that wasn’t in Obama’s quote)…I happen to be "white" (the real reference to "they"...the people of Pennsylvania and the Mid-West)…I am clinging to my “religion”….Oh yeah, and I am also clinging to my “guns” (seriously…I am…I am actually typing with one hand and holding [or clinging, if you will] to a gun with the other hand)….
Since you brought up the subject of guns let me say something about that. On June 14th, 2008, at a Philadelphia fundraiser Barack Obama said, “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun. Because from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans”. Now I know that he was probably speaking philosophically…..BUT, my reaction to that, would be this; Since most liberals are anti-gun….if that scenario were to ever actually play out….before we could continue the "fight" , the liberal/socialist/communist, would have to go somewhere and find someone who actually believes in the 2nd amendment, borrow a gun…and THEN return to the "fight"….while I would have had one the entire time. (but that’s just crazy me).
Ok....since you insist on prodding me about this whole “gun thing”…I will concede and make yet another comment. Recently at a protest of Arizona’s SB 1070….the following was said. (Remember, this is directed at those who would support such a racist law)…."We will not stop! We will take up our shovels and pickaxes that we break your land and do your landscaping and clean your toilets and our plungers and we...we will use them against you! Believe that!" (still don’t believe me…look here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDlutO0KK7g ) Yeah those “Tea Party” people are crazy aren’t they? Wait…that wasn’t a “Tea Party” person……that person was either a bleeding heart, flaming liberal…or someone who is in the country illegally and is pissed off about the possibility of being caught breaking the law…and being sent back to wherever they came from.
By now you are probably wondering why would I possibly put those 3 fabulous quotes together in the same blog (Obama’s 2 quotes and then this idiot's…come on keep up…I cant keep going back and explaining everything to you…this will take all day)….It’s simple actually….Using President Obama’s logic and philosophical prowess….I not only agree that it is stupid to bring a knife to a “gunfight”…I think it’s just as dumb to bring a “shovel”, a “pick axe”, or YES even a “plunger” to a gun fight as well. To sum this all up for now, let me just offer a memo To Ms. Stupid Protester Person (if that really is your name, which I seriously doubt)...Before you do anything really, really stupid....(like coming after me with a plunger, etc.).....remember that I am not just clinging to my "religion"….I’m clinging to my "guns" as well....and EVERYONE knows that you don't bring a plunger to a gun fight. Then Again….That’s Just Me
